PRESS RELEASE
Additional text by Rebecca Peel

The BLM is planning on gathering an estimated 262 wild horses from the Swasey HMA with up to 100 being released back onto the range following the gather. Approximately 49 mares will be treated with the fertility control drug Porcine Zona Pellucida (PZP-22); the remainder of the released horses will be studs. Approximately 162 excess wild horses, including wild horses gathered that are residing outside the HMA boundary, will be removed. 1
To save [them] from [an] alternative, or perhaps utter annihilation, the General Government kindly offers [them] a new home, and proposes to pay the wholeexpense of [their] removal and settlement. 2

A: can you describe where your fear is coming from?
B: I have no fear
A: then can you describe your motivation?
B: for the benefit of progress, and the maintenance of structure; the future of this great land
A: I see; and do you at all consider the symbolic significance that this may carry henceforth?
B: it is irrelevant
A: and why is that?
B: because it is my responsibility to ensure that the proper ordinances are seen to their most logical, most perseverant conclusions
A: and by what methods will this be ensured?
B: whatever necessary and available
A: will these methods be made transparent to the public?
